HELLO!

My Approach and Business Story

I’m Lisa — an experienced Midwife and Health Visitor with over 20 years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Through my work across maternity services in Northern Ireland, I’ve cared for hundreds of women and their partners at one of the most important times in their lives. I've worked in Consultant and Midwifery Led Units, attended home births and worked in community postnatally too.

I’ve seen first-hand how fear of birth, lack of preparation, and overwhelming information can affect a family’s experience.

That’s why I created Pregnancy Birth Beyond — to provide calm, realistic and supportive birth preparation that helps parents feel confident, informed, and emotionally ready for whatever path their birth takes. Following birth you can join me at baby massage, held in Castlewellan, meet other new parents and join a supportive community navigating parenthood together.

Whether you’re preparing for birth or navigating life with a newborn, I’m here to help guide and support you, and build a community of like minded, supportive parents.

My approach blends professional expertise with warmth, reassurance and realistic preparation for labour and early parenthood based in Co.Down, NI.

My Journey & Qualifications

Diploma in Nursing

1998~ I started my nursing education with a Diploma in Nursing at Queens University Belfast. This is where I had my first experience in midwifery, I fell in love instantly but there was a path I had to follow to achieve this dream.

BSc Hons in Nursing

2001~ I stayed at Queens University and completed an advance nursing degree. I had to work in nursing for 2 years before I could apply for Midwifery. I worked in Orthopedics.

BSc Hons in Midwifery

2003~ I went Back to Queens University to become a midwife. I worked in this profession for over 18 years, I gained experience in midwifery led units, consultant led units, antenatal, postnatal and community care, including home births.

PgDip In Specialist Public Health Nursing

2020~ I changed course and went to
University of Ulster to gain a Post-Grad specialising in Public Health
Nursing which led me into Health Visiting
. This gave me a better work life balance as a busy mum of 3, no more night duty, on calls, weekend shifts, or Christmas day duty.

Diploma in KG

Hypnobirthing

2023~ I missed midwifery, I
realised many parents were suffering birth trauma, they were unprepared. I knew the benefits of Hypnobirthing and antenatal education, I wanted to empower parents and help them prepare for birth to improve their experiences and birth outcomes.
.

Diploma in

Baby Massage

I felt there was a lack of services for families in my area so I studied again, this time so I could teach the art of baby massage to parents, reduce feelings of isolation and build a community of supportive parents.
